For me, building skyscraper is not a good idea even though I live in kind of skyscraper in my country.
Of course, there are some advantages of skyscrapers such as saving land, comfortable to commute and energy-efficient.
However, there are many disadvantages more than advantages and they offset the advantages. For example, building skyscraper can cause a heavy traffic jam because a lot of cars come out at the same time. It is bad not only for residents of skyscraper but also for residents of suburban. Moreover, skyscraper is not energy-efficient actually because it uses a lot of energy at the same time, which is the main cause of UHI (Urban Hit Island). Because of UHI, people in downtown tend to use air-conditioners more than outside of city.
How about your opinion, guys?

Actually, I am someone who is not intrested in skyscapers but I realy suport the idea of skyscraper. Despite you I think that super skyscrapers benefits are more than disadvantages. First af all, they reduce traffic jam. as we know many people are working in downtown and most of the super sky screpers has been located in the downtown. therefore, many people that live in skyscrapers can commute from home to work just by walking. I did not exatly undrestand your mean about disadvantags of skyscrapers on suburban.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in some small countries like Singapore, they don't have enough land to build private buildings. Therefore, skyscraper's one of solutions. Maybe in the near future, the world population will be increasing. As a result, we'll have more and more skyscrapers in the future! That's just my opinion :D
ReplyDeleteI think all the problems that you talk about like the trafic jam are because there are not enough skyscrapers which changes our mode of trasportation. The only type of building that avoid what you called UHI are some kind of green skyscaper.
ReplyDeletei agree with u , but i think there is one more disadvantage: sick-building.in fact, in skyscapers, there is not fresh air and enough sunline, it will make worker feel more stress.
